Week 9 Term 4 2021
Dear Families and Friends,
The 2021 school year has been a fruitful yet challenging one! Nonetheless we have maintained our focus, kept smiling and much learning has taken place. The growth of every child has been delightful to witness this year. I take the opportunity in this newsletter to thank and congratulate all those who have made it a great year.
Thank you Parents
To all parents, thank you for your continued support of our school by respecting our school values, showing interest in your child’s learning and supporting the leadership and staff. Great things can only happen when we work together and although this year has limited parent involvement somewhat, we still have an engaged and active community. Thanks especially to those of you who have volunteered and supported our social justice initiatives and charity fund-raising.
Heartfelt thanks go to our Parents and Friends Committee and School Board for their support and commitment. All of your efforts are highly valued and contribute to the high quality education and the vibrant community here at IHM.
Thanks to our exceptional staff
The staff at IHM go above and beyond the call of duty, and it is their dedication, compassion and unity that strongly either with the disruption of the building program and restrictions on events. However, we have come through together as a team and I am so proud of every staff member as they’ve done a brilliant job!
In particular, upon their leaving, I thank, Ms Nadia Morris and Ms Jane Hidson. It has been wonderful to have you as part of our staff and your commitment and teaching gifts have been appreciated by many. We wish you every blessing in your new ventures.
Thanks to the all Students
Thank you for all your great learning and growth mindset throughout the school year. I am so honored to be your Principal; you make me proud and you keep me laughing and young at heart. I am grateful for your joy, funny insights and amazing talents. Enjoy your holidays!

Spirit of the Heart and Social Justice Awards 2021
Each year the students and teachers vote for the students who they believe best represent these two catagories. The Spirit of the Heart award is an all round category for a student who stands out as being a positive learner, responsible and committed to the IHM Pillars.
This award was given to Lam Duong and the runner up was Curtis Bryant.
The Social Justice award is given to the student who best demonstrates our heart spirit, shows kindness and compassion to everyone in our school community and beyond.
This was awarded to Noah Mullin and the runner up was Lilybelle Kenefick.
Congratulations to these very worthy winners.
Christmas Blessings
The Christmas story has been told and retold for over centuries because of its enduring messages of hope, peace, goodwill, family, love and humility.
So dear families and friends, this Christmas season I wish that:
You may be blessed
With the spirit of the season,
which is peace,
The gladness of the season,
which is hope,
And the heart of the season,
which is love.
I look forward to seeing you all in 2022 with a building program complete and beautiful new facilities for us to use. Stay safe and go well.
Warmest wishes,
Pauline Kinsman

Thank You and Happy Holidays
And so, to the end of 2021. In some ways it has been a more challenging year than 2020; who thought that was possible? I think a lot of us, myself included, were convinced that by entering the year 2021 all the challenges with COVID-19 would now be in the rear-view mirror. How wrong we were….
Despite the challenges, there have been many, many highlights. Here are a few of my personal highlights:
- 5/6 Woodhouse Camp
- IHM Coin Challenge
- Year 3 & 4 Zoo Snooze
- Year 2H Sleepover
- Pyjama Day
- R/1T & R/1M Bugs and Slugs Incursion
- Green Hearts
- School Concert
- Catholic Schools Music Festival
- Book Week
- Wizard of Oz OLSH Production
- Stall Day
I would like to say thank you to all the students and their families for another fantastic year at IHM. I have been very blessed to see our students grow with their learning, friendships and in their ability to be leaders for the world God desires by being people of love and ensuring they live out the Gospel values. I could not be prouder to be part of this very special IHM community.
I wish you all a safe holidays, a Merry Christmas and will see you in 2022.
Vinnies Christmas Appeal
Thank you to all our families who supported the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. St Vincent de Paul were blown away with the generosity of our students and their families in giving to those less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you so much for making the Christmas of others brighter.
The First Christmas
Last fortnight I shared with you about Advent. Following Advent we enter the season of Christmas, the shortest of all church seasons. Christmas is a time of God showing God’s great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. God sent Jesus into the world to be born. His birth brought great joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men, and angels all shared in the excitement of knowing about this great event. They knew this was no ordinary baby.
During the Christmas season we can all take some time to reflect on the messages of the Christmas story. It’s a time of joyful celebration, a time to reflect on the importance of family, of sharing peace and love.
Have a Happy and Safe Holiday.

The P & F would like to thank everyone in our community that has supported us this year. It has been another challenging year to keep connected but together we have still been able to hold some sausage sizzles and most recently hold a Christmas Stall for the children. We all enjoy seeing the joy and smiling faces on the children and look forward to a bright 2022.
Thanks again to Bridget O'Brien, Nicole Butler, Rebecca Lane and Kim Grantham who have helped on the P & F over the last 6 years. We will miss you at IHM and wish you all the best on the next journey.
Please remember if you would like to get involved next year you would be very welcome. We meet on the 2nd Monday of each term at the school from 7pm. More details in next year's newsletter.
We wish you all a safe and happy Festive season and all the very best for the New Year.

Lunch Orders in 2022
Brompton Foodworks will continue to supply lunches to our students in 2022. At the start of the new school year, families will only be able to order lunches using the Qkr! app.
The majority of our families are already using the Qkr! app as it is much quicker, easier and is simple to download and then order and pay for your child’s lunch from your phone at a time and place that suits you – no lunch order bags or cash required! See information attached.
Simply download the free Qkr! App (see instructions below) and get started. Lunch orders must be placed before 10:30am each day. Please note that credit card transactions will appear as Hurst Retailing Canteen on your statement.
